August, 2006

Here is the area excavated and ready for the footing forms to be placed. My plan was to do everything myself since hiring contractors is painful and very expensive. Once the concrete footings and old foundation were removed it took about two days to excavate down to the elevation you see here. This was required by the building plans. I rented a small excavator and removed the old concrete. Before this I also rented a backhoe to tear down the original building and then a bobcat with a jackhammer on the front to break up the old foundation and flatwork. Terry Bishop Loaned me his small excavator to finish the excavation job that you see in the pictures.

July, 2006

In July of this year I started demolition of our curent garage as shown to the left. I rented a backhoe and took the garage to ground level in about 10 minutes. It was very unstabe and came crashing down with ease. To completely remove the garage I had to rent a backhoe, Bobcat with a jack hammer on the front to chop up the old concrete and an excavator with a thumb to grab the concrete and put it in a dump truck.
